What to expect
Before you start on the Banking platform, you will join the Global Analyst Induction Programme (GAIP) in September 2016, with colleagues from around the world who have joined one of our other global businesses' graduate programmes.
We have graduate opportunities in the following areas:
Advisory Coverage – these teams originate, develop and execute corporate transactions and capital raising projects for global customers in most major industry sectors. Activities include mergers and acquisitions, divestures, joint ventures and financial restructurings.
Coverage – these teams provide informed advice on a full range of products and services in specific regions or industry sectors. The objective is to drive global, profitable client relationships built on trust and understanding.
You’ll be part of a six-month rotation during the two-year programme to help you understand the range of products and services within our international network and how we tailor these to provide bespoke client solutions. You’ll also gain a thorough understanding of risk, which is vital to protecting the interests of our clients.
Wherever you join us, we will support, guide and develop you, while our leaders will help you to be the best you can be, reflecting your interests and capabilities.
Learning, development and support

The GAIP will be delivered in the UK. This will provide you with an understanding of how everything in the bank fits together, along with a mix of technical and regulatory training. The GAIP is also an ideal opportunity to start building your own global network, which will prove invaluable as your HSBC career unfolds.
We’ll provide the support, tools and opportunities for you to drive your own career development. As you move through your rotations, you’ll learn from specialised research analysts and economists, gaining a detailed insight into HSBC’s strengths in the financial services industry. Your training will be carefully structured, with events and other opportunities to build your wider HSBC and banking knowledge. You’ll have regular access to business leaders for coaching and advice, while constructive feedback will enable you to measure your performance. You’ll be assigned a mentor and buddy, who can offer guidance and support.
There will also be the opportunity to take part in sustainability initiatives, which will help you to develop new skills and possibly become a future leader of HSBC, while adding value to the communities in which we work.
Potential career paths
The Banking Global Graduate Programme is the beginning of an exciting, long-term international career. On completion of the programme, you’ll be hired into a challenging role in advisory or coverage and start progressing towards a senior role.
