세부사항

Korean-English research and translation assistant needed for journalism work

One university- or entry-level research/translation assistant in Seoul is needed to help an international freelance journalist on a near-daily basis.

The part-time position is ideal for those who are interested in business, journalism or translation practice, and are available at least 2-3 hours on most days.

The responsibilities include researching, translating Korean to English, emailing or calling officials in Korean and translating the results, often on a daily deadline. There are opportunities for occasional in-person interview interpretation.

The topics include Korean environment, trade, tax policy, technology, startups and other business issues.

Research work will be done by internet, so you can work anywhere on your computer.
Live interviews would be done in Seoul and depend on your schedule.

The pay is 8,000 won/hour for research/translation and 15,000/hour for live interview interpretation. T
he workload is 2-3 hours per day, 4-6 days per week.

Applicants should be fluent in Korean and English writing and conversation, have good research and phone inquiry skills, be computer literate (understand how to navigate government websites, use Google Docs and create invoices and work logs), be able to manage several tasks at a time with deadlines, have regular access to a computer with internet, and have a flexible schedule.

I'm a freelance journalist covering business and technology for various global publications, including Forbes Asia, Bloomberg BNA, Nikkei Asian Review, Mashable, The Guardian and others.

You will learn how a story is researched and fact-checked. If you are interested in writing for global publications, I can help you learn how to pitch articles of your own.

To apply, email Elaine Ramirez at elainegija@gmail.com with your resume/qualifications, weekly availability and bio by December 30, 2016. Work will begin early January 2017.
