Macquarie Investment Management (MIM) offers investment management across a number of asset classes including equities, fixed income, currencies and commodities, infrastructure securities, real estate securities and fund of funds.  It delivers a full service offering to both retail and institutional clients in Australia and the US, with selective offerings elsewhere.

The Asian Listed Equities team within MIM manages long only equity strategies including the widely recognised and award winning Macquarie Asia New Stars Fund. This is considered to be one of the leading fundamental SMID Cap fund management groups based in Asia.

The team is looking to hire a dedicated buy-side Analyst, with coverage for ten countries Asia ex-Japan. The potential candidate's main focus will be to help Senior Analysts/Portfolio Managers analyse Korea stocks and to carry out the following duties;

• Bottom up fundamental analysis,
• Analysis of corporate governance risks
• Desktop research including preparation of financial models
• Reading annual reports and prospectuses
• Translating accounts & company releases into English
• Preparation for and meeting with corporate management
• 1:1 meetings with senior management and extensive travel to the region seeing companies
• Presenting stock recommendations to portfolio managers
• Detailed Excel modelling of historic earnings and forecast accurately future earnings potential
• Monitoring and reporting of key macro risks

The successful candidate will:

• Tertiary qualifications in Finance/Economics/ Maths/Accounting/Engineering or other relevant disciplines
• CFA qualified, or conducting CFA highly preferred
• Experience: Minimum 2-3 years financial industry experience. Accounting and Management Consulting experience will also be considered
• Minimum 1-2 years either buy-side or sell-side experience is equally preferred
• Be able to work to tight deadlines and have the flexibility to work outside of regular office hours when required
• Demonstrate a passion for and a solid understanding of equity markets and financial concepts
• Be highly numerate and analytical
• Possess very strong Excel and expert Bloomberg skills
• Possess strong time management skills, enabling effective prioritisation of competing tasks
• Fluency in both Korean and English language skills are highly beneficial due to service coverage
• Solid understanding on value-investing; Buffet, Munger, Graham, Fisher etc
• Team player, corporate culture essential
• Experience in value investing with preferably some industry work experience in Korean markets and knowledge of a specific sector
