: Gap Year Internship Program for Global Investment Research (GIR)
1. Position:
Gap-year internship in Global Macro Research department under the Global Investment Research division.
2. Assignment location & period: Seoul.
1 year starting May 2014 (start date to be confirmed)
3. Divisional summary:
Global Investment Research (GIR) delivers value-added research to clients in the equity, fixed income, currency and commodities markets. Goldman Sachs develops global client-focused research in economics, portfolio strategy, derivatives and equity and credit securities. Our clients use these insights and investment ideas to develop their strategies. We produce original, fundamental research and analysis of industries, companies and economies. Our research teams continually identify and analyze financial information,
strategic issues and trends that affect companies, industries and markets on a regional and global scale.
4. Principal responsibilities:
All interns will be responsible for
· Researching and critically analyzing information related to Korea economies/markets
· Handling requests for information from clients and other Goldman Sachs divisions
· Assisting in the writing of publications and the preparation of presentation materials
· Build and maintain financial and macro market models, customized indexes, etc.
5. Attributes we look for:
· Strong analytical skills with logical thinking
· Knowledge of accounting, financial derivatives and/or statistics a plus
· High degree of literacy in Excel; knowledge in the use of external databases, e.g. Bloomberg, CEIC,
Datastream, FactSet, Haver, Reuters, and program writing in VBA a plus
· Experience using quantitative statistical packages such as EViews, Quantiwise a plus
· Fluency in Korean, Mandarin is a plus
· Strong numeracy skills and attention to detail
· Good communication and interpersonal skills; team player
· Strong multi-tasking ability
· Entrepreneurial spirit
· Interest in investments and the associated research processes
· Outstanding academic achievement
· Open for candidates in bachelor, masters or PhD degree
6. Advantages of the program:

· The intern should gain broad knowledge on economies and markets, obtain skills on data researching and critical analysis, as well as hands-on experience in financial information technologies

7. Eligibility Requirements:
· Graduating in 2014 or 2015
· Must obtain university approval for taking one year out
