The offshore associate will support: a bulge-bracket American investment bank’s Asia Korean Economics Research team. Role Responsibilities/Challenges 

1. Work closely with country economists (Korea’s in particular) and fixed income/currency strategists in the coverage of Asian (mainly Korean) economics and the formulation of rates and FX trading strategies

2. Develop econometric analyses and macroeconomic forecasting models; assist in forecasting key economic variables and generating views on economic development and policy directions at country and regional levels

3. Responsible for writing macro data commentary, preview and review, daily News & Views on latest economic developments

4. Co-author economic research reports

5. Conduct thematic economic research on a variety of topics Research reports/projects coverage would cover areas such as:

a. Investment accelerator model

b. Private consumption tracking model

c. Korean housing market

d. Economic fundamentals versus financial market movements

e. North Korea’s integration into the world trade system

f. Evolving relative volatility of Korea’s financial markets

g. Household debt comparison

h. Macroeconomic analysis of Asian stock market performance

i. Growth potential of EM Asia economies

j. Asia growth and exports tracker k. Asia exports growth/model

Requirements/Desired Skillsets:

1. Excellent writing and communication skills in both Korean and English
2. Understanding in regression modeling
3. Knowledge in Bloomberg, CEIC, Haver
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Strong quantitative skills and experience with data analysis and accuracy
6. Bachelor’s degree or above in Economics, Econometrics or related topic focusing on Macroeconomics
