KUBS is proud to announce that Korea University is ranked as the top among universities in Korea by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy’s Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) in the subject of business administration. Business administration at Korea University is ranked in the top 101st-150th in the world.
Among universities in South Korea, KAIST came in second after Korea University, placing on the top 151st-200th worldwide. Seoul National University, Sogang University, Sungkyunkwan University and Yonsei University achieved the top 201st-300th global rank. In the subject of business administration, the top place went to the University of Pennsylvania, followed by Harvard University, Northwestern University, Pennsylvania State University-University Park in the U.S., and Erasmus University Rotterdam, in the Netherlands.
Shanghai Ranking Consultancy has been annually releasing the ARWU of 500 best universities out of 1,200 universities in the world. The ARWU is known for its most objective methodology, applying quantitative indicators 100% to assess the institution’s research performance. Shanghai Ranking Consultancy has been releasing the university ranking since 2003, which was at first to compare the academic performance among universities in China. The ranking then grew to a world university ranking with the evaluation of 1,200 institutions. The ARWU by subjects is determined by △the number of papers (‘article’ type) authored by an institution during 2012-2016 (150) △the number of papers published in Top Journals during the five years (100) △academic performance of the relevant department in comparison to institutions in the world (50) △the level of collaborative work with institutions in other countries (10) △the number of a significant award in the subject area.
In the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2018, Korea University has ranked first also in Management among universities in Korea and placed on the 101st-150th globally. Seoul National University and Yonsei University came in second and are ranked in the top 151st-200th worldwide. KAIST and Sungkyunkwan University achieved the top 201st-300th rank, followed by Hanyang University’s 301st-400th rank among universities in the world for management.
In terms of the university’s overall performance, Korea University placed on the top 201st-300th in the 2017’s ARWU. The ranking demonstrates the University’s improved performance each year.
