“Board the Train to Success in Startup” KUBS holds Startup Demo Day ‘2020 Fall Online CHOO CHOO DAY’

 

“2020 Fall CHOO CHOO Day” was held at Business School Main Hall Startup Institute ‘The Stage’ on November 13 (Fri)

 

The “2020 Fall CHOO CHOO Day (hereinafter CHOO CHOO Day)” hosted by Korea University Business School (Dean=Johngseok Bae), and organized by KUBS Startup Institute (Director=Hojung Shin) and KU Crimson Start-up Support Foundation, was held on November 13 (Fri) at Business School Main Hall Startup Institute ‘The Stage’. CHOO CHOO Day is a demo day event in which companies that moved into the business school's startup incubation platform "KUBS Startup Station" and went through a six-month to one-year incubation program present their business models and achievements. The event was broadcast live on Korea University's YouTube channel and the KUBSstartup station's YouTube channel due to the COVID-19, and the enthusiastic participation was made by investors, investment parties and students interested in startups.

Prior to the start of the event, Johngseok Bae, Dean of KUBS, expressed his gratitude in a congratulatory speech and expressed his expectation, saying, "I am very much looking forward to hear the five teams' story participating in today's event."

 The event then began with a welcoming speech by Jungbien Moon, head of the Iljin Center for Startup Incubation, saying, "We ask for a lot of attention and reaction to those who watch the event in their rooms and offices."

 

Park Ji-soo, delivering his keynote speech

 

Before starting the presentation of the participating companies, Park Ji-soo, CEO of Blockchain Security Platform "SOOHO" one of the Startup Institute graduates, delivered a keynote speech. Along with the company's introduction, Park offered words of encouragement to the companies that participated that day.

 

Q&A session: Chung Hyun-kang, CEO of Silver Lining

 

On this CHOO CHOO Day, five startups participated including △"Silver Lining (CEO=Chung Hyun-kang)," which provides silver close-range walking service to expand jobs for senior citizens △"Gochin (CEO=Son Jiyoun)," a high school student learning mentoring service △"Team Roots (CEO=Kim Myung-won)," which uses can sealing technology to develop heat management technology △"AILO(CEO=Jeehyun Lyu), a digital stationery platform for tablet PC planner and notebook" △SNACAT (CEO=Hwang Yu-jin)”, a pet premium snack curation subscription service Each team replaced the presentation with a pre-recorded video in the studio and communicated with viewers through real-time Q&A in the form of a talk show.

After all the presentations were made, Hojung Shin, Director of KUBS Startup Institute, concluded the event with a closing speech, saying, "Startup is not only an economic phenomenon but a cultural phenomenon," and "We will help students solve the problems they wanted to solve in a fun way."

"We needed a place to share our business results so far, and it was beneficial to receive a lot of feedback as well as share performance through CHOO CHOO Day," said Chung Hyun-kang, CEO of Silver Lining. Jeehyun Lyu, CEO of AILO, also said, "It was an honor to introduce to many people the business we had prepared for a year, and I am grateful to wrap up our time at the KUBS Startup Station well."
