About 500 Startups Korea

In 2015, 500 Startups launched its first thematic fund in Korea called 500 Kimchi. Korea's fund team has been actively investing in startups in Korea and globally since its inception. Besides investments, Silicon Valley's best practices were brought to the local startup ecosystem including the creation of a standardized financing document (START Docs) and the creation of an acceleration program that mirrors 500 Startups' Seed Program operated in HQ. Notable portfolio companies from both Fund I & Fund II are OP.GG, PeopleFund, Spoon Radio, Dano, Finda, Veluga, Storicity, Mommom, and Sankun.

What You Will Do

This role will be the key to a successful Accelerator (Seed & Series A Program). You will be responsible for the daily success of the program creating a positive experience for all participants. Responsibilities will range from community management to logistical support. You will report to Korea team members. You will be responsible for performing administrative duties, support with online and offline events, and overall day-to-day operations of the programs. You will be expected to lead at all program stages, from batch formation to post-program feedback sessions. You will be interacting with mentors and up-and-coming portfolio companies.

Key Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

Acceleration Program

• Onboard all participants from our portfolio companies and recruit mentors according to their needs
• Plan and execute overall program curriculum
• Develop and control deadlines, budgets, and all activities related to the programs and community build-up
• Act as the bridge among 500 Startups Korea team, the mentors, and program participants
• Assess program performance and aim to maximize NPS
• Manage and plan for Investor/ Demo Days

Brand Marketing

• Develop branded content, including blog contents and portfolio founder interviews
• Monitor PR activities of our portfolio companies and re-disseminate in our marketing channels
• Manage our social media channels (mainly Facebook and Instagram) and official website to increase digital presence

Portfolio Community

• Plan and execute portfolio community founder events (2~3 events/year)
• Conducting regular check-ins with portcos and provide support to their needs (i.e. HR support)

Your Goals

• Study to be highly knowledgeable of every portfolio company's strengths, weaknesses, and assumptions that need to be proven out in order for them to be successful. This is important as you will be asked from me and more importantly from people in the startup scene in Korea and we need to be on top of it
• Be knowledgeable of every portfolio company's product development and what stage they are in their growth trajectory
• We service founders. Founders do not serve us. Let that reflect your actions and treatment of founders and value creators. This is very important. We win by being entrepreneur-friendly and supporting VC. We lose if we lose sight of that
• Be as organized and methodical about our deals, considerations, and companies as possible

Must-Have

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in BOTH English and Korean
• Be one of the most organized people you know

Job Description

500 Global Korea is looking for an intern who will work with us for the upcoming Startups Acceleration Program.

WHO WE ARE 
500 Global (previously 500 Startups) is a venture capital firm on a mission to discover and back the world's most talented entrepreneurs, help them create successful companies at scale, and build thriving global ecosystems. It is one of the most active venture capital firms in the world.

Since its inception in Silicon Valley, 500 Global has invested in over 2,500 companies via its 5 global funds and 16 thematic funds dedicated to either specific geographic markets or verticals. Its 100+ team members are located in as many as 20 countries around the world in order to support the 500 Startups global portfolio of investments which spans more than 75 countries.

Beyond providing seed capital, 500 supports startups via their Seed Accelerator Programs which emphasize digital marketing, customer acquisition, lean startup practices, and fundraising for pre-Seed companies. 500 further contributes to the development of innovation ecosystems by supporting startups and investors through educational programs, events, conferences, and partnerships with corporations and governments around the world.

WHAT WE NEED
Beyond its investment activity as a venture capital firm, 500 supports entrepreneurs and developing ecosystems around the world via several programs. We are looking for a Program Intern who can assist with the overall operations of a newly formed program and deliver the best possible experience for all stakeholders involved (i.e. founders, mentors, and corporate & government partners).

Program Interns are responsible for the day-to-day program operations, mentor scheduling, live translating, and taking notes during the mentoring sessions. Overall logistics, SNS promotion, program documentation, and event planning for the program are also important duties of the intern.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
This position is based in Seoul, South Korea under 500 Startups Korea.

You will be working under the program manager of 500 Global Korea, taking a strong sense of ownership and accountability for the programs' success. When we have programs running, you will help to run the day-to-day activities and create a positive experience for all participants. You will interact with mentors, up-and-coming startups, corporates, and government agencies on a regular basis. A willingness to learn in a fast-paced adaptable environment is a must.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
- Moderate and facilitate the mentoring sessions by deeply understanding the needs of the participating startups and matching that with the expertise of each mentor
- Be in constant communication with the Program Manager, 500 Global Korea team, mentors, startup founders throughout the program for a smooth program operation
- Drive community engagement by planning and executing networking events for the batch
- Assist on all program preparation and execution, ensuring all participants get the full program experience
