 Best business school conference held by Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Dean Soo Young Kwon attended the 7th International Business School Shanghai Conference (IBSSC) on October 22nd and 23rd.
The 7th IBSSC is one of the best business school conferences which was held by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, celebrating its 100th year of establishment. A total of 250 participants were invited to the conference, including deans from renowned business schools and institutions, CEOs at globally renowned corporates and policy-making authorities. The main theme of the conference was to discuss the role and impact of business schools in academia, businesses and the society, given the business schools’ large influence on the global society.

At the IBSSC, Dean Kwon had a presentation on <The Corporate Impact of Research in Business> where he pointed out that despite their achievements, there are limitations on the researches at business schools and to be able to contribute to thoroughly understand the corporate structure, culture and individuals’ behavior. Therefore, Dean Kwon argued that business schools must facilitate joint researches with firms, reconsider the protocol of reward for professors’ academic performance, and hold academic forums that reflect the business practice in order to have a greater impact on business and the society.

Furthermore, he suggested the academic staffs including professors and researchers to be familiar with the business practice, because of the nature of the business studies that highly demand practical knowledge. Dean Kwon concluded the presentation by encouraging professors at business schools for their further contributions so that business schools have a positive impact on business.
